Actor Gul Panag, at an event in Dehradun, spoke about women empowerment and how women as a collective can empower each other for their health and wellbeing.
Gul Panag was present at a FICCI event on Saturday.
Speaking to ANI, she said, “Women empowerment starts with women coming together. When I’m with women, I feel empowered too because I believe that one woman can inspire and encourage other women. And I feel very lucky to be here. I was invited and given the opportunity to speak. The challenges women face are universal. We should talk about it. I believe these challenges will become easier if we do that.”
Speaking to the audience during the event, she said, “We live in an environment and a society where we are conditioned to put others before ourselves, and we usually put ourselves last. And that impairs our ability to do the very task that is placed on our shoulders, which is to take care of the family, to take care of the home. Whether you are a stay-at-home mom or a working mother, whatever you do, there is a disproportionate amount of responsibility that is placed on your shoulders. And those shoulders have to be strong.”
Gul Panag added: “When you get on a plane, they’ll ask you, ‘What are you doing? Are you wearing a mask?’ I’m 45 now and I think prioritizing my health has played a huge role in helping me do everything I can. If we’re not strong, if we’re not capable, we can’t do all the things we want to do, like take care of our children, our aging parents. It’s all a responsibility that falls on our shoulders. And I think taking care of our health is rocket science. We have to eat healthy. We know what that means.”
Gul Panag is known for his versatility and has made a name for himself not just in the entertainment industry but also in various fields.
Gul began her journey in glamour by winning the Miss India title in 1999 and later represented India at the Miss Universe pageant in 1999.
Gul Panag made her Bollywood debut with the film Dhoop. Her other films include Dor, Turning 30 and Student of the Year 2.
