Suspect who asked people to stay at home charged with domestic violence

DAYTON, Nev. (KOLO) – Update 1:01 p.m.: The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office is providing more information on the search for an armed suspect.

On Thursday at approximately 10 p.m., LCSO officers responded to the 400 block of Brookfield Court in Dayton on a report of a disturbance. An initial investigation determined the person in question was 49-year-old Paul Carnahan of Dayton.

Police say Carnahan left the residence with a knife and multiple wounds, and that he also beat the woman before fleeing.

Officers then began searching the area, and police urged residents in the area to evacuate as he was armed during his escape.

Carnahan was located around 8:24 a.m. Friday and subsequently arrested without incident. He was treated for his injuries and transported to the Lyon County Jail where he was booked on suspicion of domestic violence with bail set at $3,140.

Update 8:46 a.m.: LCSO says the suspect has been located and arrested.

Update 8:13 a.m.: LCSO has not located the suspect and has lifted the shelter-in-place order.

Police said in a Facebook post that they are still actively searching for the suspect, but want to allow local residents to continue going about their daily lives.

If you see the suspect, please do not approach him and call 911.

People who live in the Woodlake/Brookfield/Woodside area are especially urged to be vigilant.

Police are searching for a man who was last seen wearing a black shirt and is believed to have large cuts to his neck, forehead and wrists. He is reportedly in possession of a knife and may be a particular danger to himself and others.

If you see someone matching the description, do not approach or attempt to arrest them, call 911.
