Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, New Jersey –
As part of the conclusion of Women’s History Month in March, Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst hosted a Women’s Empowerment Forum on April 3. The Women’s Empowerment Forum is an inclusive and supportive space for military and civilian women and advocates to connect and engage with one another.
As the event organizer for the forum, U.S. Air Force 2nd Lt. Alexis Rosario, 305th Maintenance Squadron Manufacturing Squadron Commander, worked diligently with his team to organize the forum.
“The significance of the Women’s Empowerment Forum is to create a platform where women can share their personal and professional struggles with one another and feel heard, respected and empowered,” Rosario said. “It’s a great way to foster empowerment and camaraderie among the women who represent the Composite Force.”
Rosario organized the event in hopes of benefiting Joint Base MDL by helping women interact and network with one another and strengthen lasting relationships across JB MDL.
Members from JB MDL’s various advocacy agencies and organizations, including Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I), Sexual Assault Prevention and Response, Family Support Programs, and the Air Force Assistance Fund, were on hand to educate and inform attendees about the vast number of resources readily available to them.
“The forum will feature giveaways, keynote speakers, and breakout rooms for women to interact with each other,” Rosario said. “My team and I worked hard to keep the participants engaged and engaged, and we also provided food and beverages to make the experience more relaxed.”
Joint Base leadership and several guest speakers attended. The leadership panel also discussed the various perspectives and experiences of women from all walks of life.
“It’s wonderful that this event gives women the opportunity to come together and share their stories, inspiration, struggles and words of wisdom,” said U.S. Air Force Col. Bridget Gill, 87th Medical Group commander. “I’m very excited about this opportunity and look forward to networking with all of the participants and building relationships and bonds through this forum.”
With the success of the Women’s Empowerment Forum, Joint Base MDL will continue to raise awareness of common issues, promote diversity, equity and inclusion, and contribute to improving our collective strength.
