The Federal Government reiterated its commitment to promoting gender development and women empowerment through the provision of vocational training and sustainable facilities.
The Minister of State for Women Affairs, Barrister Uju Kennedy Ohanenye, who visited Benue State today, made the remarks while stressing the crucial role that gender plays in the socio-economic development of the country and government’s resolve to empower women to contribute positively to their families and the nation.
He said the ministry would harness the abundant fruit resources in Benue State to provide tools for extraction and preservation, prevent waste and contribute to vitamin intake for all Nigerians.
The Minister also promised to provide point of sale (POS) terminals to small and medium-sized entrepreneurs and encourage women to form clusters and register on the Ministry’s e-commerce portal to access grants and opportunities.
Special Adviser on Special Missions and Intergovernmental Affairs, Mr. Fidelis Unongo, who welcomed the Minister on behalf of the Governor, appreciated his work towards the upliftment of women and families in Nigeria.
He reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to creating an enabling environment for improving the lives of women and children in the state.
