Communications Minister inaugurates “Future of Women Empowerment” Forum


Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat inaugurated the annual forum of the women’s empowerment initiative “QudwaTech” – “The Future of Women’s Empowerment in the Era of Digital Transformation,” which was organized by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology in March and coincided with national and international celebrations of International Women’s Day.

The Minister of Communications said the success of the communications and information technology sector depends on its ability to adapt modern technologies to have social, economic and developmental impacts on various sectors of society.

She also pointed out that the “QudwaTech” initiative launched by the Ministry of Communications aims to enable Egyptian women to use modern technological means to develop their projects and reach target markets.

Talaat explained that the celebration of the fifth anniversary of the launch of the QudwaTech initiative coincides with events celebrating women, both at the local level through Egyptian Women’s Day, and at the international level through International Women’s Day.

She noted that women’s participation rate in the communications and information technology sector is 45 percent.

The QudwaTech initiative has graduated 55 training groups from all states in the craft and service sectors and provided digital support to over 11,000 women and entrepreneurs by training them in digital marketing skills using social media sites.Furthermore, the initiative has organised over 70 consulting sessions and awareness seminars on topics supporting e-commerce, artificial intelligence applications, visual digital content production and advanced digital solutions.

Alessandro Fracasetti, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Resident Representative in Egypt, said that UNDP supports Egypt’s sustainable development plan and its ability to overcome economic and social challenges by addressing the key areas of sustainable development, inclusive growth, strategic innovation and digital transformation.

The activities of the forum highlighted the effective role of QudwaTech initiative in investing in women’s creative potential and paving the way for women in crafts and service sectors to join the digital transformation journey.

Hoda Dahurg, adviser to Egypt’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology on Digital Community Development and head of the Digital Transformation for Sustainable Development project, said that within the framework of the “QudwaTech” initiative, a training program was conducted for female workers at a tourism and hotel holding company that represents 10 tourism companies in the area of ​​email marketing at their companies.
