Rotary Mysore and Rotary Mysore East, in collaboration with the Thalil Foundation and the NR Foundation, launched Swava Lambi Sree, a free auto-rickshaw driving training programme aimed at empowering disadvantaged women, many of whom are single mothers.
The program offers comprehensive training that includes driving skills and other essential life skills like financial literacy, self-defense, communication skills, counselling etc. The goal is to empower women with limited educational qualifications to become autorickshaw drivers and equip them with valuable skills.
Rotary Mysore and Rotary Mysore East, in collaboration with Thalil Foundation and NR Foundation, will train 25 women in the initial rollout of the programme over a period of four to six months, resulting in an increase in the number of women autorickshaw drivers in Mysore and providing safer transport options for residents and tourists alike, it was announced here.
The initiative was initiated by retired RTOs Arun Kumar Singh and R. Guru.
Pravin N and Rohit Subaya, new presidents of Rotary Mysore and Rotary Mysore East, and Chitra AR, founder and trustee of Tallil Foundation, were present.
