LAKE FOREST, IL — The following information is from the Lake Forest Police Department and the Lake County Courthouse as records of people arrested by police. An arrest does not mean that a person is guilty of the crime they are charged with. Criminal charges merely represent an accusation by the state and are often dropped or reduced. All individuals named below are innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. Updates on the following cases may be available from the Lake County Circuit Court Clerk.
Arrest/Charge
A 22-year-old Lake Forest man was arrested and charged with child endangerment after police were called to Northwestern Medicine Lake Forest Hospital, 1200 N. Westmoreland Road, around 1 p.m. on June 17 to examine a child who was inside a locked vehicle. Officers spoke with the child’s father, who was inside the building, examined the child and took the man into custody.
A 44-year-old homeless man was arrested on June 19th at approximately 6:30 p.m. on an arrest warrant issued by Cook County police. Police were dispatched to Lake Forest Hospital to assist the man after he requested a ride to the train station.
Vitaly Shevchik, 34, of 104 North Washington Road, Lake Forest, was arrested on charges of domestic violence, unlawful restraint, two counts of domestic violence and interfering with the reporting of domestic violence after police were called to a home around 12:45 a.m. on June 27 where they witnessed the suspect beating someone. Officers ordered the suspect away from the person and took him into custody. Prosecutors later pleaded guilty to the felony charges.
A 52-year-old Lake Forest man was arrested around 3:30 a.m. on June 28 and charged with DUI. Officers first spotted a suspicious gray Telluride on Basswood Road. The vehicle was seen driving around the block and then knocking on the front door of a home. Officers spoke to the man and smelled alcohol on his breath, after which they took him into custody.
At approximately 7 a.m. on June 30, an 18-year-old borough man was arrested and charged with theft in connection to a city-owned robotic lawnmower that was reported missing. A GPS tracking device on the robotic lawnmower led police to his home, where both he and a juvenile accomplice were served with warrants.
Joe A. Robinson, 37, of the 9000 block of West Herbert Avenue, Milwaukee, was arrested around 12:30 a.m. on July 4 and charged with DUI, DUI with a breath alcohol content greater than .08 and carrying a concealed alcohol container while driving. While on patrol, an officer observed a Dodge truck violating lanes. During the traffic stop, the officer smelled alcohol on Robinson’s breath and determined he was intoxicated. Robinson was also charged with improper lane usage and unlawful transportation of an open container of alcohol by a driver.
A 34-year-old Chicago man was arrested around 2 a.m. July 5 and charged with driving on a suspended license, suspended registration and unlawful transportation of alcohol by driver after a traffic stop on a suspended Cadillac registration.
Noam D. Lautenberg, 54, of the 400 block of West Main Street, Carbondale, was arrested on an active Williamson County arrest warrant around 1 p.m. on July 6. Officers were dispatched to Sunset Foods, located at 825 S. Waukegan Road, for a shoplifting incident in progress. The store did not want to press charges, only ban Lautenberg from the store.
Cassandra C. King, 32, of the 5000 block of West Adams Street, Chicago, was arrested on July 6 at approximately 3:30 p.m. on an active warrant from the City of Lake Forest. Officers were notified by the Forest Park Police Department that King was in custody. Officers removed King from Forest Park and took her back to the Public Safety Building and then to the Lake County Jail. Ashaya K. Garrett, 21, of the 7000 block of South Wolcott Avenue, Chicago, and Kayla N. Chambers, 20, of the 14300 block of University Avenue, Dolton, were arrested on July 12 at 4 p.m. and charged with retail theft over $300. Officers were dispatched to Lululemon, 680 N. Western Avenue, in reference to a theft. Police said King and an accomplice stole about $2,800 worth of merchandise on June 7, and Garrett, Chambers and two others were found in possession of about $3,000 worth of stolen goods.
On July 7 at 6:40 p.m., police were dispatched to 890 N. Western Ave. for a report of someone vomiting outside of a vehicle, where a 30-year-old Lake Forest man was arrested and charged with DUI and driving with a blood alcohol content above .08. Police found the Lexus in the parking lot and smelled alcohol on the man’s breath.
During the investigation of a traffic accident that occurred around 8 a.m. July 13 at Waukegan and Everett roads, a 36-year-old North Chicago man was arrested and charged with driving without a license.
A 38-year-old Waukegan man was arrested around 11:30 a.m. July 13 after police were dispatched to a hit-and-run crash at the intersection of Route 41 and Old Elm Road and charged with leaving the scene of an accident, operating an uninsured vehicle, suspended registration and failure to slow down to avoid an accident.
A 41-year-old Mundelein man and a 66-year-old Lake Bluff man were arrested after police stopped a Toyota pickup truck for a lane violation around 12:30 a.m. on July 20. The Mundelein man was charged with DUI, failure to possess a valid driver’s license, operating an uninsured vehicle, improper lane use and unlawful use of a weapon. The Lake Bluff man was charged with unlawful use of a weapon, open transportation of alcohol and resisting arrest of a police officer. Police found a switchblade knife in the floor of the vehicle.
