GLOVERSVILLE — A statewide summit to discuss domestic violence will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 21, the Family Counseling Center announced in a press release Tuesday.
The center’s domestic violence program will host the event, which will focus on the intersection of domestic violence, mental health issues and substance abuse. The conference will be a one-day event held on the SUNY Fulton Montgomery campus, according to the release.
The summit will bring together mental health professionals, law enforcement, domestic violence experts, local residents and others interested in reducing domestic violence in their communities.

The announcement also included a list of speakers who will be attending the conference, including domestic violence survivor and advocate Ali Moss, certified clinical trauma specialist Jessica Carey and social worker Anthony Rizzuto.
Tickets for the summit are available to everyone for $25 and can be purchased at thefamilycounselingcenter.org/dvsummit .

“We are pleased to welcome domestic violence experts, community members and local partners from across New York State to our first Domestic Violence Summit,” Amanda Anderson, director of the Fulton County Domestic Violence Program, said in a statement. “While there are many root causes of domestic violence, we see time and again that domestic violence, substance use and mental health overlap. The Summit is intended to shed light on these overlapping issues, provide insight into them and give us the skills and understanding to advance our work.”
