APD arrests domestic violence suspect in southwest Albuquerque

Albuquerque –

At approximately 9:30 a.m., the Albuquerque Police Department received a call about a male abusing a resident of a residence in the 900 block of Pheasant Run Drive SW. When officers arrived, the victim was able to get out of the home and had marks from abuse all over his body.

According to the criminal complaint, Adam Castillo, 40, had been holding his girlfriend hostage and abusing her for the past few days, and the woman said Castillo had physically assaulted her and sexually assaulted her.

APD established a perimeter around the home and initiated public address broadcasts to the suspect inside. Officers were eventually able to speak with the suspect over the phone. After successfully speaking with Castillo, the suspect peacefully turned himself in to police.

This is the couple’s second domestic violence case in the last year – the other case was investigated by the Rio Rancho Police Department but was dismissed when the partner did not want to press charges.

In this latest case, Castillo was charged with domestic violence, sexual assault and sexual trespass. This lovely couple reconciled again in court and it is likely that this case will also be dismissed.
