JAKARTA (ANTARA) – Minister of Women Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA) Bintang Puspayoga signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the ministry and the Indonesian Council of Ulama (MUI) on Synergy in Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection.
“As part of our efforts to implement the five directives issued by the President to the ministry, we will continue to strengthen synergy and collaboration with various stakeholders, including through the signing of a memorandum of understanding with MUI,” the minister said in a statement on Wednesday.
Puspa Yoga hopes that this collaboration, especially with the support of religious organizations, will improve women’s empowerment, gender equality and the quality of child protection in Indonesia.
She also hopes that through this MoU, the two sides will formulate and implement policies on women empowerment and child protection from a religious perspective.
Furthermore, the cooperation has the goal of promoting gender equality, the role of women and families in education, health, social, economic and entrepreneurial areas, as well as achieving child rights and protection.

In addition, the MoU is expected to help prevent child marriage, prevent violence against women and children, provide data and information on women’s empowerment and child protection, and strengthen services to implement children’s rights through faith-based organizations.
Meanwhile, Vice President of Indonesia Ma’ruf Amin, who attended the event, said MUI has a two-fold vision in carrying out its mission and functions, including serving the people and government partners, and that MUI is also committed to the development of society, its people and the nation.
Therefore, MUI is building collaborations with government agencies that share the same vision.
“Today, MUI is holding Halal Bihar and inviting many personalities to rebuild relations with all segments of the public,” he said.
“MUI is also building partnership cooperation to build unity in carrying out various empowerment initiatives,” the Vice President said.
