BROOKFIELD, Conn. — A family violence incident ended in a chase through the woods last weekend.
The Brookfield Police Department received a report of the incident around 3:45 p.m. on Saturday. Police say officers first responded to a home on Arapahoe Road where they found the victim had barricaded herself in the bathroom for her own safety.
After safely removing the victim from the residence, police determined the suspect had fled on foot prior to their arrival and also determined the suspect may have been armed with a knife.
According to the report, Brookfield Police officers, assisted by police dog Tango, began pursuing the suspect through a wooded area behind the residence.
Tango located his prey “within minutes,” but the suspect continued running through the woods toward another house. When officers gave the running suspect the option of stopping or allowing Tango to catch him, the suspect chose the former and was taken into custody without further incident.
Police charged the suspect with unlawful restraint, obstructing an officer, third-degree assault and violation of a protective order.
The suspect is being held on $50,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court on July 29.
